Last night as Terry, Elmo, Michelle and I caught up on the day's highlights we wondered why Nike chose not to follow up on the incredible Leave Nothing commercial from last year. This morning during ESPN's First Take (still miss the Cold Pizza name) I finally saw Nike's Fate commercial. Directed by David Fincher and produced by Wieden + Kennedy's Portland office, the commercial is less heart pounding and more touching than last year's Leave Nothing commercial. The soundtrack is a remix of “L’estasi Dell’oro”, (The Ecstasy of Gold), by Ennio Morricone.

The spot features NFL football players, LaDainian Tomlinson and Troy Polamalu. We follow them through their lives from toddlers to present day professional athletes. From the actual uniforms and numbers they wore in pee-wee football to their favorite plays, an incredible amount of research was done to make this concept as authentic as possible.

While searching for the Fate commercial on Youtube I also came across this interesting soccer commercial, Take it to the Next Level.
