I've said it before, and I'll say it again. McCain officially shot himself in the foot when he selected Palin to be his running mate. She's awesome for the entertainment industry and as eye candy in the usually staid old political scene. She's probably damn qualified as Governor of Alaska, but as VP and potentially president? No $*@$ way.
A lot has been mentioned about McCain's campaign choosing Palin because she drifted more to the right than he did, so what? To get the Republican vote out? Shouldn't he have further appealed to those in the middle or to the left? Were they really that worried that the Republican would choose not to vote for McCain because he isn't right-wing enough?
I don't think it's that big of a deal that Powell chose to endorse Obama, but he really threw the Republican party under the bus with the things he said in the video. Saw him speak at a convention two years ago... things were light and funny then, not anymore. Right-wing zealots are beyond conversion but I'm sure there are plenty intellectual right-wings that secretly agreed with everything Powell stated and with his support of Obama and his reasoning public, I hope they choose to mobilize in support of Obama and Biden.
By the way? Props to Palin for showing up on SNL (overshadowed Mark Wahlberg's cameo). Amy Poehler's Sarah Palin rap? Incredible! My name is Sarah Palin and you all know me. Vice President nominee of the GOP!
