The pylon...
Interesting. Watching Monday Night Football right now and I never realized that the goal line extended 'forever'. In essence the goal line wraps itself around the globe. For a player to score a touchdown, they don't necessarily need to get the ball to break the plane within the pylons. The ball can break the plane anywhere including outside the pylons (out of bounds) as long as some part of the body passes 'over' the pylon. I will keep this in mind when Tiki Barber retires and Ernie Accorsi gives me the call to suit up. Okay don't lie, who knew this before today?

i knew about the the whole breaking the plane concept. but i always assumed that it had to be the ball itself that broke that plane, not necessary any part of the body holding the ball that goes within the pylon.
