If any of you have been following the ongoings of the 'blogosphere' you probably came across some news about the Weblogs Inc. being sold to AOL. As of November, consider me a freelance writer for AOL, checks will be signed by them from then on out. That's right, the Weblogs Inc. network has been sold to Mr. Case and company for an astounding estimated $25 million (meeting certain conditions). However we'll pretty much be an autonomous subsidiary keeping much of the existing structure and editorial freedom. The main difference will be that AOL through various mediums will advertise for us and direct more readers our way.
A year ago, I would have written off AOL, Time Warner was a sucker for merging with AOL, but in recent months they've seen to be back on a more positive track. They seem to 'get it' now. Then again, this could just be a bribe for a post. With that being said, I should get back to posting on the design blog since I've been neglecting it for the past three or so weeks.
