Distressed... relationship problems.
I returned home last night and went through my routine unpacking the laptop, placing it on my desk and connecting the various cables. Upon waking it up from standby, the T42, nicknamed DCBlue (IBM -> Big Blue), froze. No big deal, things like this happen. So I shut it down and after repeated attempts to get it to boot completely, I gave up and started doing some research. Two short beeps meant system board or DIMM problems. Perhaps my extra stick of ram died? Removed it, now one long and two short beeps. System board, LCD assembly or DIMM problem. After further diagnostics, I pretty much narrowed it down to the system board.

I placed my first call to IBM support last night. After a quick 19 minutes or so on the phone I got everything settled. This is the reason why I paid the price premium for the IBM. Of course things would be much better if nothing ever died. A box is on the way, should arrive Tuesday or Wednesday, and from there I'll be shipping DCBlue away. They are going to reimage my drive for me, but as a safety measure I'm going to do it myself at work on Monday. Let's make it quick techies. I'm going through withdrawal... I should have never cheated on it at the Samsung Experience Lab. I was only looking at the X30! I never really seriously considered it (not available in the States anyway and the price premium for importing it is ridiculous). Widescreens are so sexy though...

Hey hey, I'm in the market for a tablet PC and Lenovo IBM just came out with the X41 - almost the same to the non-tablet 41 series...how do you feel about the IBM build/style? Sturdy?

Otherwise I'm in for a Tecra M4....
