FYI, Jersey Drivers and all Cell Phone users...
Jersey Drivers, I'm going to feel really stupid if this is some stupid chain email, but coming from one of my little brother's brother's that is on the force, I think it might be real:
Hi Guys,

Just a heads up from my group regarding traffic control week (which
should last about a month) pass it on...

Please let your friends & office know that the NJ State Troopers
will be out In force for TRAFFIC CONTROL starting next week. (For
about a month)

My friend is going on overtime for TRAFFIC CONTROL.

Unmarked cars will be patrolling Route 1, Route 130, Route 280,
Route 80, Route 78, Route 24, the Parkway and the Turnpike for
speeders during commuting periods starting next week for about a
month.

He and other troopers are being paid overtime to participate and are
expected to write a lot of tickets. Do not speed!
In addition, if you haven't done so, it'd be good to spend a minute or so to register your home number, and your cell number @ Do Not Call.Gov. Most of you probably already registered your home number last year, but in a few weeks, your cell phone numbers will be released to marketers as well. So it's time to get those numbers on this list as well.

Update: My first ticket of the year, and after posting the warning too, I feel like an ass. It was also the end of the month, so I should have been extra cautious already. Got ticketed for speeding up to make a left while the light was a yellow on Route 10. From this thread I read, looks like I may have a chance if I go for a no-point offense ($185 plus $250 surcharge). As long as they can reduce my 2 points to a no point offense I'll be happy.

what's the technical definition of a commuting period? cuz for me, anytime i'm in a car going on a highway is a period in which i am commuting. just curious.
