November Book Signings
Bruce Mau - Massive Change: The Future of Global Design: 11/03 6:30pm @ Haft Auditorium, Bldg. C, Fashion Institute of Technology, West 27th St. between 7th and 8th Ave.

Wow, a book from Mau that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I still haven't finished Life Style and I haven't been able to locate this new book of his, I suppose it'll be available in some of the bookstores in NYC, or at FIT. Not definite about whether or not I'll make the trip.

Daniel Libeskind - Breaking Ground: 11/04 7:00pm @ Barnes & Noble Union Square, 33 East 17th St.

One of the few big name architects that I feel is keeping it real. I have a general distaste for many of the big name firms out there especially Frank Gehry who I now despise. Some of his earlier work was good, but since he made it big, it is as if he traded in his talents for fame and fortune.

Anyway, Libeskind won me over when I read his reasoning and thoughts behind his WTC design. I just finished Stan Lee's biography, and Libeskind's first 50 pages has been a big jump. I will most definitely make it out to the city to meet this man in person.

Also on the same day (an hour earlier) is the opening of Benjamin Edwards' exhibition, Automatic City, at the Greenberg Van Doren Gallery. "Automatic City holds a mirror to contemporary society and reflects it back as hallucinatory utopian landscapes. Edwards deploys a seemingly inexhaustible dictionary of corporate identities and image branding, private and public building plans – interspersed with specific examples of architectural icons - into hybrid cityscapes filled with textural detail, both literal and depicted." 730 Fifth Avenue, @ 57th Street.

Alicia Keys - Tears for Water: 11/09 6:30pm @ Hue-Man Bookstore, 2319 Frederick Douglass Blvd. at 125th St. & Eighth Ave. (There is also another signing earlier in the day at 1pm at Barnes & Noble Lincoln Triangle, 1972 Broadway at 66th St.)

Also on November 9th, the release of Mozilla's FireFox 1.0! And don't forget the Incredibles are coming out this weekend! You all know I hate going to the movies, but this is one I definitely won't mind paying for.
